Elizabeth College ‘V’ The Gurkhas

A Target Rifle Match versus the Gurkhas was held at Fort Le Marchant on Saturday 8th May. It was a privilege to welcome them to Guernsey (The Gurkhas had made me very welcome during my tour of Nepal in 1989).
It was a splendid morning at the range, quite breezy with light conditions improving throughout the morning. Peter Sirett and Mike Creber, two experienced coaches kindly offered to coach the Gurkhas: they did a fine job as the Army Target Rifle is unfamiliar to them.
Some of the up and coming shooters from Year 10 volunteered to man the targets and do the lookout duties under the direction of Rob Waters.
The result of the match was a win for College with a score of 286.6v to 264.1v. The top scorer in the match was Cpl Chandra.
Well done to all involved for making the morning such a success.
